--- HOW TO SET (AND ACCOMPLISHING) LIFE-CHANGING GOALS If you want to achieve something big, you can't think small. You might want your life to change—To get that dream job, to run your own business, to publish that book, to retire early, to feel peace in your days—but year after year passes without any change. We get stuck for so many reasons. Our job runs us ragged. We have family obligations. We're afraid of failure. We're worried about what other people might say. But here's the real reason why we never achieve our big dreams... We never pause to define exactly what our dreams are and we never give ourselves the permission to dream big enough. As soon as we get a dream in our head that just seems too ridiculous, we think to ourselves, "Who are you to think you can achieve that?" Our self-doubt sets us up for failure before we even try. Here's a simple exercise you can use to override this tendency... Carve out 30-minutes this weekend and answer the following questions in a journal: 1- What does my dream life look like 5 years from now? (Hint: Dream BIG) 2- Given my 5-year vision, what goals do I need to set this year to arrive at my vision on time? (Hint: Set a maximum of three strategic goals) 3- Break your goals for this year into a weekly action that you can start chipping away at 4- Conduct a Goals Review: Set a weekly reminder to revisit your goals and track your progress 5- Conduct a Vision Review: Set a quarterly reminder on your calendar to review your 5-year vision There's no magic wand that will help you achieve your dreams... but you do have to believe in a little magic. And that magic occurs when you get clear on your dreams and start working toward them If you haven't experienced any magic yet, it's not too late. Take the time to define your dream goals and, then, give yourself the permission to dream beyond what your rational mind thinks is possible.
